The standard light assault craft of the Royal Marines, in 5.2, 6.5 or 8 meter long versions. Rigid Raiders feature tough GRP (glass reinforced plastic) hulls, making them ideal for beach assaults. Some RRCs are powered by single or twin outboard motors. The latest RRC, the MK3, is powered by an inboard diesel engine.
A combined force of SBS & SBS used RRCs for their abortive raid on Port Stanley Harbour during the Falklands war. Despite being damaged by heavy fire, the RRCs used in the assault still managed to limp away to safety.
